Freakshow Arcade. It’s hard to get a master music producer ‘excited’ about a song, because they’ve heard it all over 30-40 years of making superb music. But my producer Tim Ellis lit up when I said, “The song we’re going to review today is called Freakshow Arcade.” Tim glowed, “You can make an album based on that title!” Well, that’s not the album title, but its what we the people will identify with because we are living it. Our thrilling daily freakshow arcade is called Runaway Government. We’re replacing that with one that includes every single American spirit, at RTDNOW.COM.

Like most songwriters, like Francis Scott Key, (who wrote our National Anthem, to a bar song melody no less), on this song, I just wrote down what I saw for the last three decades. It wasn’t hard and happened fast. Well that’s what I’ve done that for the American people in 100 songs in your ROCK OPERA TO SAVE AMERICA, called, REDEEM THE DREAM NOW. “Oh say can you see?”
A MONSTER MASH
After the sad passing away of Tim Ellis after tracking the 100th song, my sound engineer who was also a gifted producer and musician, Dean Baskerville, took over Tim’s duties in post production of the songs. As he heard me singing out in the draft vocals on this song he thought for a moment and said, “Monster Mash. Can you do Monster Mash?” Since we’re similar age I knew the song, a Halloween spoof from the 1980’s: fun song. He said, “Can you get into character and sing that way?” Dean and I were just really getting to know each other. I smiled and said “Be a smart ass? No problem. That's eeeasy.” I just got in the sound booth, didn’t hesitate and nailed this vocal. Because the vocal now matched the carnival emotion of the song. Which I’d first thought of like the Beatles “Benefit of Mr. Kite” cool song. But my song sounds nothing like that. When you surround yourself with great people, they make you, and everybody, perform better. Thanks Dean!

When I first met Tim Ellis, my producer, (see Music/Backstory) I previewed three of my songs with traditional song formats: verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridge/chorus/outro. And two that were VERY creative: chorus/intro/verse/chorus/verse/verse/chorus/chorus/tag. Not knowing me he scoffed at the creative formats as ‘adventurous’. Some of my favorite songs, hit songs, are the most adventurous. And he embraced my traditional format songs. I guess we were testing each others’ song making appetite. On this song I switched up the traditional format just a bit which confused the band, which never had more than 10 minutes to digest the song before jumping into making it. So on this song, like a field general, on the rough draft you can hear Tim calling out the changes, “Coda! Bridge! Chorus!” For us who had the pleasure of working with Tim Ellis, it’s comforting and enjoyable. We all miss him. Things don’t just happen, people, like you, MAKE them happen.

After the coup of 1787 (the Federalist Constitution) stole the real American Dream, our birthright of equality (social, political and economic), the next big turning point in the history of the American Dream, was 1823: the Monroe Doctrine. When he declared “the Western Hemisphere was off limits to the rest of the world” it was our excuse to re-colonize Spain’s colonies of: the Philippines, Cuba, Guam and Puerto Rico. This was the second pivotal moment in our history when America became the imperialist offspring of their parent, Great Britain, they swore to the world, they’d not grow up to be. But they did, we did, inadvertently thanks to President James Monroe. However, notable citizens organized to object as a group called the Anti-Imperialist League boldly stating “a free people could not hold another nation in bondage without risking their own liberty.” They were so right. Our military slaughtered over 100,000 Philippine citizens a few short years after offering them goodwill to gain independence from Spain, to make them our colony. This was a first step in blind American militarism and how we started to lose our soul and purpose as a nation.
Fast forward to America 2020. And we come to the realization that American global corporations (global bank money refinanced ALL the Revolutionary War debt which pushed ALL the States, like a payoff, or the home loan scandal of 2010 duped millions of people getting easy to good to be true loans, to ratify The Constitution, taking away Citizen and State rights) took over our government in 1787 through money in politics to create an imperial presidency with the shove down the throat passage of the constitution, and lead rampant blind endless militarism.
And that indirectly thereafter would then would cause all ordinary, non-millionaire, AMERICAN citizens, living in America, to be treated as if they lived in a colony (called America) controlled by the global elite wealth class, still with money in politics, legalized by their Supreme Court’s 2010 legalization of Corporate money in politics, to accelerate sucking all the money out of we the people, and the world. To the wealth class elite who controlled the presidency, the rights of citizens of America or the Philippines, were about the same. They just sucked all he resources out of either by controlling government no matter how much a few complained.
When you connect these BIG dots, the American Dream turning points as above of 1787 and 1823, the Daily Freakshow Arcade we wince at today of endless bad policy decisions that work against the American people, (their brilliant idea is always more debt) against our principles of equality, freedom and independence, that we all struggle to survive under, all start to make sense. The American government does not represent the ordinary citizen in National Policy decisions, it represents the global wealth class elite, since 1787. In today’s Information Age, that is just starting to become obvious to all.
Today 300 Million American citizens in 2020 have progressively had everything taken from them: economic freedom, citizen rights, States rights, the whole treasury, and since 2010 the value of our votes. Add that all up: they took your future. And left you to pay the $26 trillion national debt bill.
We’ve all had everything that made America, America, a great place to live, taken away. Everything that was the American dream of equality, taken away by the elite wealth class and perpetual politicians in office, via corporate money in politics, we can’t get rid of. The Freakshow Arcade of endless smiling politicians like absent minded professors that keep forgetting the most important thing to do: serve the needs of 300 Million real people. They have forgotten how to get anything good done for the citizen.
So let’s review a little American history to understand how this twisted set of circumstances came into being stole the American Dream from 300 Million citizens by design.
Who was James Monroe? He fought in the pivotal battle of Trenton: the crossing of the Delaware got them to Trenton. He studied law under Thomas Jefferson. He was minister to France and helped negotiate the Louisiana purchase. He served as Governor and in the Continental Congress. He OPPOSED ratification of The Constitution! James Monroe supported the founding of colonies in Africa for freed slaves that would eventually form the nation of Liberia, whose capital, Monrovia, is named in his honor. He was for freedom and was a patriot all the way through. But what motivated the Monroe Doctrine two years before his presidency ended (remember that in American history every action has a giant reaction 10-30 years later) and what did it set in motion?
The Monroe Doctrine said that Old World Colonialism enslavement and Western New World Freedom and Democracy were different systems. Freedoms and Democracy versus Despotism and Colonialism. It Declared that European powers trying to colonize Central and South America would be considered an act of war. The irony here is that Monroe said the world had changed! Freedom and Democracy would prevail going forward. And then America proceeded to do the exact opposite of what it told the world to stop: colonizing small counties and economically enslaving all their people. So in short, that’s how we later stumbled into Southeast Asia, made up a stupid fear slogan called THE DOMINO THEORY, (if one nation fell to Communism they could all follow) which was the basis for a 40 year long COLD WAR, and in the process America became the world’s biggest hypocrite ever since and we don’t understand who we are anymore or what we stand for.
It will soon be 2020. It’s time for America and the world to grow up and live the ideals we have professed for 250 years. Freedom, Equality, Liberty, and Independence. It’s time for colonization, mostly economic these days, money in politics allowed China to steal our manufacturing base for example, our last American Dream engine over decades was ‘colonized’. It’s time for the world to stop colonizing once and for all, and adopt sovereignty and independence. Country Borders and economically. You see, today’s modern Plantation owners are Corporate America. And they give out subsistence wages (Minimum wages) and only worry, to all, as they remove their factories to overseas while pushing through policies in government using money in politics, that bankrupted the nation and us all, while starving us all for basic services like healthcare. It’s like an ongoing political hostage situation day-by-day, and year-by-year to see if they kill the hostage, or release a few, or ask for a jet (new tax cuts for billionaires) with billions of dollars to fly overseas. And we always pay! That’s the crazy part. Because all our politicians are paid off and keep giving us a different version of the same horse crap.
Once 300 million as 1, we all realize Corporate America has the money in politics gun to 300 million ordinary citizens heads, we will all finally know nothing will change at all with each election. We all see the hostage situation we are in for what it is: getting worse each year. Anyone remember Nightline? Where Ted Koppel did a night-by-night broadcast of the Iranian hostage crisis for like 400 days in the old Jimmy Carter era? That’s what cable news looks like to me every night talking about OUR politics! Tidal waves of corporate money in politics is why America has dropped like a stone for decades and is nearing death, total economic collapse. What does that mean to every citizen? See East Germany 1950-2010 for an example: a lost generation in total hardship socially and economically.
For other examples see the implosion of the former USSR, and not so Great Britain, for two examples of empires collapsed and broken with NO PLAN (as America is today heading towards disaster) going through DECADES of economic and social hardship. Race IN-equality and using of State and national police forces to harass and imprison, minorities and immigrants, what started this great nation, is directed from Washington D.C. And now it is in high gear again after the 2016 Presidential election. Political IN-equality is so lopsided, Corporate and Billionaire money in politics have been made legal, corrupting OUR WHOLE SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT, and as a result, 300 Million citizen’s voices don’t count anymore. Our votes don’t count because whoever is elected reports to billionaires and corporate America not the people. Corporate America and global billionaires have removed the voice of the people, and therefore the will of the American people. Our democracy is presently DEAD.
Our politics overrun, our economy is directed to benefit only mega corporations and the global wealth class elite. Who just elected themselves, by the way. Economic IN-equality is at epic levels not seen since 1776 and 1900, our two last American economic revolutions, as less than 10% control 90% of the wealth. Our American economy is dead running on debt and refinancing, which jeopardizes the futures of 300 million ordinary hard working citizens, and the ability for America to even exist 10-20 years from now.
Our American spirit, what made, and remakes the American dream EVERY GENERATION, is presently dead. Killed with fake news, fake facts, endless lies, limited candidate choices, endless crony capitalism, and elected officials who do the same things endlessly: cater to Corporate America, Wall St. and the Defense industry.
And then they have the gall to look the camera in the eye, and tell us all, ‘it’s a hard job and they’re doing their best!’ But we can ALL see doing their best for whom: not 300 million citizens. It’s like a bad Twilight Zone episode on endless rerun. The dream we called America, has become a daily nightmare for 200 million Americans below or just a recession away from poverty. The elite global wealth class pays our politicians to keep all the money flowing to them. We watch this political freakshow arcade endlessly as we all suffer and die early with inadequate healthcare.
